Coach Dan and DIG, has taught both of my kids. My daughter really enjoyed chess lessons and my son has received a couple soccer lessons and won’t stop talking about wanting to play soccer. He literally wasn’t into any sports, and now we have signed him up to play on his first soccer team. Coach Dan really cares and it shows, our kids pick up on that and their confidence grows. Definitely recommend Coach Dan and DIG!
Dan is an amazing Coach and a wonderful role model. He demonstrates positive behavior on and off the pitch: kindness, positivity, passion for the sport, and giving back. We were so impressed to learn that for every paid-for lesson, Dan gives a free lesson to a kid who may not otherwise have the opportunity to enjoy a training session.
He encourages competition, but not at the expense of good sportsmanship and camaraderie. You never hear Dan yelling, “better than that” or some such cliche employed to belittle a player. He builds each player up, focusing on positive encouragement and resilience. When they make a mistake – as all players do – he tells them not to worry, and to get back in the game. For this reason, the kids respect and trust Dan, and always give 100%.
Group lessons are finely tuned to the needs of the individuals in the group. My son tells me these lessons are always intense and highly informative as well as super fun with lots of laughs too. He comes home and practices after practice!
We highly recommend Coach Dan and Dig Soccer. 5 stars!
My son loves working with Coach Dan. He is incredibly supportive and enthusiastic. He takes the time to really get to know each kid, including their interests beyond soccer. After only two private lessons, my kid greatly improved his technical skills. Coach Dan pointed out an area of improvement that coaches had missed for years.
My son absolutely loves DIG soccer! As a parent, I love what I see also. Coach Dan gives great feedback in real time with a focus on skill and attitude. The practices are a great mix of building skills and having so much fun.! The option to join Coach Dan for a history lesson was icing on the cake, you made history cool, what’s better than that!
Coach Dan did a great job this summer coaching my 2 boys. He really helped them with their technical skills and focused on their goals for the coming season. Both my sons love being coached by Dan. They learn a lot, he keeps it fun, and he has inspired them to practice a lot on their own. He shows them how to get better and keeps them motivated. I would highly recommend Dan and the DIG program. My oldest is a part of the middle school team and really enjoys that as well.
To Coach Dan
We had to privilege of meeting Danny more than 6 years ago on the soccer field when he was coaching in Wilton , He is not your average coach , Danny goes above and beyond to inspire the kids to give him there all and never give up , his love for the game and the kids makes him one of the best coaches I ever meet , not only a great coach but a great roll model for the kids . The way he conduct his training is always fun and challenging for the kids , but also he teaches
and enforces team respect and team play on and off the field . One of the thing I notice at the end of any practice is that all the kids leave happy and smiling and a feeling like they have accomplished something great and are filled with confidence and can’t wait for the next practice .
Thanks to Coach Danny and all the coaches from DIG ! keep doing what you are doing .
Best , Frank Tomas and Totti .
Coach Dan and the DIG program not only improved and enhanced my daughter’s soccer skills, it more importantly increased her self confidence. Coaches Dan and Fred take a personal interest in those they train, and their guidance and training make a well rounded, positive player. My daughter highly values the DIG training she has received, and we see how it reflects favorably both on and off the field.
We are huge fans of Danny and his DIG programs! He and his coaches (especially Fred) are all very special people who provide great support, guidance and skill training for our boys. We have taken part in both the soccer and chess instruction and also are involved in the wonderful programs he sponsors in Bridgeport. DIG adds so much to my boys’ lives both on, and more importantly, off the field. We look forward to many more years of DIG in our lives! Thank you Danny for your commitment and passion.
Great program fun & educational
Here’s what a player wrote in a paper for school, entitled Always Believe in Yourself:
When I was with Coach Danny at Ambler Farm, we were practicing in the rain and working on landing on the shooting foot after you kick the ball. Suddenly, a storm alarm went off. It was as loud as 13 elephants in a stampede.
The next practice I was messing up everything. I couldn’t even kick the ball properly. When Danny called me over I slowly walked towards him. He whispered something in to my ear. “Okay,” I said. The next Sunday afternoon I still remembered what he whispered to me, “always believe in yourself.”
When I got to the soccer game a couple of minutes after it started, I got the ball, I took it and I scored!
At practice the next week the head coach of the travel team came.
Coach Danny was talking to him about me in the soccer game and how I shot the amazing goal. The coach wanted to see me do it. I was already shooting. When he saw me do it he was impressed. All I remember from that time is always believe in yourself and never give up even if it is the hardest thing in the world.
Here’s an email that Coach received:
This probably doesn’t happen often, if ever. In fact, it’s probable that most of they letters you get are complaints or people telling you how to coach or run the programs. Not this one.
I don’t know Danny well. I don’t have a kid on his team. I don’t have a son in the WSA program anymore. However, I was lucky enough to see Danny in action yesterday. I went to pick up my son who was referee-ing this U10 boys game. I was early so I stayed to watch the second half.
Wilton was down 0-3. I overheard Danny’s half time talk. It was all positive and motivating, it was fun, I think he even read them a motivational excerpt about competing and hard work. I wanted to get in there myself and work hard to get back in the game because, even though they were clearly up against a tough opponent, Danny made them believe they could get back in it. He knew, and made them believe, they had the talent and moxie to do it. I love, love, love that he has a professional soccer nickname for each kid — Drogba, Kaka, Bradley, Cazorla — the kids love it. They eat it up. Hell, I eat it up. These kids worked and pushed and played and tied it up 3-3 with 15 minutes to go. They went up 4-3 with 5 until the other team tied it and it ended a 4-4 draw.
Not once did a kid hang his head or some ridiculous celebration. They kept working. After a goal they got back to shape ready for the next kick. I was inspired, a 47 year old weekend warrior. I can’t imagine how he makes those kids feel. Like kings, I bet. Like world famous soccer stars.
Great, great stuff Danny.
Best, Michael Schneidman
